How to Protect Your Base in Build a base RNG
Protect your Build a base RNG base from zombie waves with optimal defense placement, wall layers, turret priorities, and offline survival strategies.
Understanding Zombie Threats
Zombie waves are the failure state in Build a base RNG. When defenses leak, structures stop generating and Rolls stall. Protection is not optional decoration — it is the guardrail that keeps your RNG snowball intact.
Waves typically escalate in health and count. Later zombies may bypass weak outer layers or focus income buildings. Study spawn direction on your plot before placing expensive turrets.
Layered Defense Theory
Use three rings:
- Outer walls — cheap high-HP blocks that slow the wave and buy turret time. See defense tier list for block ratings.
- Mid-ring turrets — sustained DPS covering the longest path. Overlap fields of fire at corners.
- Core shields — protect income generators even if outer rings fall.
The layout tips guide shows how choke points multiply effective DPS without extra Rolls.
Turret Placement Rules
- Place splash damage where paths converge.
- Single-target beams on high-HP elites in later waves.
- Do not cluster all turrets on one side if zombies path from multiple angles.
- Upgrade existing turrets before Rolling replacements — upgrades often beat lateral rarity swaps.
Offline Defense
Your base fights offline per the official description. Offline defense strength depends on layout persistence and automation upgrades. AFK accounts need higher baseline wall HP because you cannot manually repair during leaks.
Estimate overnight survivability with the offline earnings tool and compare repair costs versus income gained.
Boss Wave Interactions
The BOSSES UPDATE introduced bosses with custom attacks that may ignore standard zombie logic. Keep emergency DPS uncommitted during boss timers and learn patterns in fight strategies.
